Engler Studio is an engaging and experienced team of professionals focused on creating singular, livable, well-edited interiors. We are left brain and right brain in action. Engler Studio melds vision, artistry, functionality and economics to deliver interiors that suit our clients to a T. We guide our clients through an efficient and thorough design and decision making process — from the space plan and construction material specifications through color palettes, furniture selection and final installation. Along the way we listen, we question, we explore, we laugh, we challenge, we educate, we learn, and we take time to celebrate. Together we design, plan, communicate and execute well to ensure that our clients live well.  Design to live well.

Engaged creative thinking, professionally delivered. Stylistically, Engler Studio spans the spectrum from modern to traditional, encompassing all points in between. Like a good cocktail, it’s all about the mix and the balance. Each of our projects possess a distinctive stylistic blend that elevates and exhilarates. Artistic tension is welcome. Project scopes vary from one room to an entire house, and span from breaking ground to hanging art. We design kitchens for cooks and kitchens for take-out. Aesthetically we strive for singular spaces with soul. No cookie cutter approach or studio fingerprint here. We layout space, we layout furniture, we layout living. We design interiors that support and enhance the architecture, not compete with it. Less is more. Clean and simple. Engler Studio: Design to live well.

Educated and experienced in construction materials and methods, the Engler Studio team loves getting our Hunter boots dirty. We are well versed in specifying wood, stone, tile, flooring, lighting, millwork, doors, cabinetry, hardware, plumbing, appliances, paint and exterior materials. We use AutoCAD design software to create drawings, review drawings and share ideas. We select from given parameters, we design custom, we value engineer. Our project meeting agendas are in sync with the construction schedule and selection priorities. We understand the importance of deadlines – we meet them. We work with our trade colleagues to create, plan and execute a structure built for living. Engler Studio: Design to live well.

We are team players. Engler Studio thrives in a team format within our studio and with our diverse project teams. We work with architects, builders, contractors, landscape architects, developers, real estate agents and other trade professionals. Our best projects are team projects. We communicate effectively and regularly with our client and to the entire team. We methodically document the big and the little details. Brainstorming sessions, experience sharing, challenging one another to raise the bar, feeding off each other’s energy, checks and balances between disciplines, united problem solving and united exuberance – the perks of collaboration that drive the process and exponentially improve the outcome. The benefactor? Our client. The result? A home designed for living. Engler Studio: Design to live well.

Principal, Interior Designer

Professional Member, ASID

“Designer of Distinction” awarded by American Society of Interior Designers, MN Chapter

B.S. – Interior Design, University of Minnesota, 1984

Linda’s talent, expertise and experience is grounded by her perspective and warmth. Her ability to articulate a project with just the right touch of wit and intelligence is an invitation to enjoy life’s luxuries and appreciate the pleasures without taking it all too seriously. The result is spaces — and lives — that are more rich, comforting and satisfying. A master of space planning and a stickler for detail, Linda refuses to take sides in the traditional versus modern debate. Her influences are many, but her mantra remains “clean and simple.”

A self-professed Type A, Linda attempts to unplug from the design world via golf, music, travel, HGTV (not sure if that qualifies) and sips of her favorite Fireball/Rum Chata concoction. Husband Dave is the yin to her yang and the Engler clan’s calm behind the storm. Son Kyle (24) and daughter Lucy (16) keep Linda laughing, crying, balanced (almost) and living life to the fullest. Best days of her year — Engler foursome golfing in the north woods near Outing, MN, followed by an evening pontoon cruise on Lake Roosevelt with Nanny and Bumpa, Linda’s parents. Doesn’t get any better than that!

A skilled and seasoned interior designer, Jenn believes good design mixes styles, genres and influences. A.K.A. the Queen of Tile, she thrives in minutia and delights in discussing the merits of a shower curb. Her calm and pragmatic approach to design and project management leaves no stone unturned. AutoCAD space planning and drafting puts her in The Zone. She loves all things construction (including the subs) and prefers wearing a hard hat to high heels. She’s a driver of meetings, Room Finish Schedules, To Do lists and a Jeep. Her two main squeezes are husband, John, and daughter, Bryn — a tight trio that together loves travel and restaurant exploration. Jenn’s affinity for having fun on the journey is matched by her penchant for orange.

Business Administrator

Our Business Administrator extraordinaire, Tabitha manages the numbers, oversees accounts receivable and payable, coordinates our marketing effort, creates and tracks schedules with a fervor, and maintains order and calm within our colorful clamor. She quotes, orders, expedites, and installs everything. Backorders? Tabitha’s on it. Shipping issues? Tabitha’s on it.  There is no grass growing under these feet — instead there’s lovage, borage, French tarragon, bee balm, lemon verbena, and anise hyssop tended with care in her St. Paul garden. A cookbook fetish (650 and counting), glassblowing and BBC murder mysteries are passions pursued after laying down the studio reins for the day . . . or is it studio Reign for the day?!

Holly 2

Studio Pooch

Maple Plain, MN 2012

Small in stature yet the biggest Diva of the pack, Miss Holly loves sunbathing in the window atop a wool carpet sample and chirping at our mailman, Mark.  She hates pounding and freaks out on construction sites.  Aesthetically she’s inclined toward modern design – the studio Bertoia “Bird Chair” is her go-to spot.  Holly’s loaded with ‘tude and style, just like her 2-legged sister, Lucy.
